iPhone Smart Lens

Written by Henry on September 29th, 2010

About a month ago I received an email from one of my favorite photography sites Photojojo.com. The email was featuring lenses that you can use on your iPhone and as the camera nerd that I am, I had to learn more. I mean I use this phone for everything. Even though I still have the original iPhone with a crappy camera and no flash, I use it all the time. So the fact that I could buy lenses for it intrigued me. I clicked through to the Photojojo store and found these Fisheye, Macro, and Wide Angle Camera Phone Lenses. At first I was skeptical but for $20 or $25 it was worth it just to try one out. I ended up ordering the wide angle/macro lens since I seem to have trouble focusing on objects too close to my camera. After a couple of weeks I received the lens (It took a couple of weeks because they were all sold out when I first looked into them.)

It comes with this handy little ring that you stick on the back of your iPhone. The lens is magnetized and then attaches to this ring. It’s fairly strong for how small it is.

It also came with a free gift described as a Rawwwwwr! So I used this to test out my new lens.

Here’s the original iPhone image without the lens.

Here’s a photo from my iPhone and the wide angle/macro lens. As you can see it’s not a great picture but it does help focus on close objects.

Photojojo has a bunch of cool stuff. I think my next purchase may be the Camera Lens Mug.
