Lunchbox Laboratory – Seattle, WA

Wednesday, August 3rd, 2011

Over the weekend Kathryn and I went desk shopping and after a long day decided to get dinner at Lunchbox Laboratory in South Lake Union.  It was highly recommended by our friend Terry. They’re known to make some of the best burgers in the Seattle area.

The atmosphere is great! The staff was inviting, friendly, and luckily very patient because I couldn’t make up my mind on what to get. There are vintage lunchboxes displayed throughout the dining room, along with lava lamps, toys, and other tchotchkes.

I finally ended up getting the Burger of the gods meal.

This burger is made with a Kobe beef patty, bleu cheese crumbles, balsamic onions, and a creamy gorgonzola sauce dripping out from under the bun. I also got a side order of 3/16th” skinny fries and an ice cold beer. I think it was a Fat Tire but I’m pretty sure I ordered a Mac & Jack’s and they didn’t have it.

Thanks Terry, it’s hard to beat a good ol’ lamb burger but it was delicious and I can’t wait to go back soon.

Dreaming of a new home

Tuesday, July 19th, 2011

We bought a house!!!

We just signed off on a new home.  We’ve been saving and waiting for this moment for a long time now.  We found a home that we love and can’t wait to move in.  A few days ago Kathryn even ordered a couple home improvement books to renovate and remodel our home the right way.  This is what I found when I went to bed last night…

Seattle Waterfront

Saturday, July 9th, 2011

Here’s a shot of the Seattle waterfront taken from the Bainbridge Ferry over the 4th of July weekend.  Click on the image below to see a larger version. I’m sorry if it takes a while to load; it was a large file.  The photo is a bit bit distorted on the ends because I had to shoot with a 70-200 and I was too close to downtown.

In search of the great pumpkin…

Tuesday, October 26th, 2010

Kathryn, Ozzy, and I recently went to Baylor Pumpkin Farm in Monroe, WA. She’s been going there since she was a kid. We wanted to take our niece but she wasn’t home that weekend so it was just the three of us. Ozzy thinks he’s a farm dog anyway. Baylor Pumpkin Farm is a few miles out of downtown Monroe, down a winding country road. The kind you see in portraits and paintings. Here are a few photos from our trip.

They have all sorts of ghords, corn, pumpkins, and Christmas trees. I think I even saw a few cows and horses there too.

The actual pumpkin patch is located down a short dirt road at the bottom of a hill with a view of the river. You can either take a short walk or a hayride down to the pumpkin patch.
